3 restaurants in Manila make it into the list of the best restaurants in Asia

While overseas Filipino restaurants and chefs are raising the flag for Filipino food, we also have plenty of culinary dreamers here in the capital to raise the local dining scene. Chef-led restaurants Toyo Eatery, Mecha Uma and Gallery by Chele were recently included in the 2022 edition of Asia’s Best Restaurants Ranking by the World Restaurant Ranking website She was eating.

Progressive Filipino spot Toyo Eatery, led by Chef Jordi Navarra, ranked 78th on the list, while Bruce Ricketts’ creation omakase Mecha Uma Restaurant is ranked 100. Chele by Chele Gonzalez Gallery, which fuses local Filipino traditions and ingredients with innovative techniques, ranked 139th.

Among Manila’s other restaurants receiving the “Highly Recommended” accolade are Miquel Zaguerre’s contemporary Filipino restaurant Lucafort, and the popular M Dining designed by Tom Bascon.

She was eating is a website founded by Steve Plotnicki that ranks restaurants based on reviews from a constituency that includes chefs, restaurateurs, food writers, and bloggers.
