80/20

Early last year, Sharon Krung’s hangout went high-end. Since then, it has won awards from Top Tables and Michelin. Fermentation remains at the heart of Chef Napoleon Gantrajit’s experimental Thai tasting menus, while desserts by Japanese pastry chef Sake Hoshino ditch sweetness in favor of challenging new flavours.

Aesop

This new generation of Sydney family-run Greek restaurant evokes a lively festive vibe, serving shared feasts of vibrant classics like eight-hour lamb shoulder, chicken souvlaki, and char-grilled Mediterranean octopus. In a hall intended for large and noisy gatherings, guests are encouraged to throw crockery, as in Greek tradition, to the soundtrack of “Zorba”.

Hotel Allium Bangkok

With high ceilings and red-and-white interiors, this restaurant at The Athenee takes on exquisite French cuisine with a modern flair. Set menus highlight dishes such as the delicious Chiang Mai tomato salad, creamy Thai clay pot over crunchy cucumber noodles, expertly cooked Hokkaido scallops, and French mallard duck liver with sweet apples and crunchy nuts. Formerly known as Sensi, this welcoming backyard Sathorn makes the most of its amazing products. Aside from the à la carte menu, Chef Stefano Merlo’s tasting menus offer a fun and interactive version of fine Italian food, pairing delicious creations like burrata-stuffed tomato salad with meat-heavy pasta dishes, including darn near the best lasagna you’re likely to find.
